Opportunity Grants for WCHS Educators
The Washington BRIDGE Education Foundation (WBEF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the growth and preparation of Washington Community High School (WCHS) students for life beyond graduation. Through our Opportunity Grants, we empower educators to develop innovative programs that help students build essential life skills, explore career pathways, and thrive in their academic journey.
Eligibility Requirements
To apply for a WBEF Opportunity Grant, the applicant must:

Be a current educator, counselor, or club sponsor at Washington Community High School.

Implement the proposed project within the same academic year the grant is awarded.

Obtain endorsement from a WCHS administrator.

Submit only one grant application per year.
-
Provide receipts and/or a closeout report for all funds used.
Funding Priorities
WBEF gives priority to projects that:

Improve and enhance the academic environment.
-
Align with clear student learning objectives.
-
Actively engage students in the learning process.
-
Encourage creative and interdisciplinary learning experiences.
-
Use materials and equipment that have a direct connection to student outcomes.
Grant Evaluation Criteria
All applications are reviewed on a competitive basis using a defined rubric. Key evaluation factors include:

Clear alignment with WBEF’s funding priorities.
-
Connection to meaningful student learning outcomes.
-
Strong potential for active student engagement.
-
Specific implementation details, including activities, creativity, timeline, and budget.
-
Clear and effective use of materials or equipment.
-
A well-defined plan for evaluating student impact and project success.
What We Don’t Fund
WBEF Opportunity Grants are not available for:

Capital or building campaigns
-
General operating expenses
-
Scholarships
-
Charitable dinners or fundraising events
-
Salaries or stipends
Application Process
WBEF accepts grant applications year-round.

Submit your completed application.
-
Applications are reviewed by the WBEF Board of Directors.

If approved, the application is forwarded to WCHS administration for final approval.

You will be notified via email once a decision is made.

If awarded a grant, detailed instructions on fund disbursement and usage will be provided.
Note: All grant funds must be used before the end of the academic year in which the award is granted.

Funding for all grants is made possible by monetary donations made to BRIDGE, and by the proceeds from our fundraisers. Types of grants and monetary amounts are allocated during the summer of the upcoming school year.
